This will be a practical, case study-based course following the journey of a company/business through the various stages of managing succession/exit.
Starting with understanding value creation, we will then explore the challenges of managing internal or associated relationships and expectations in terms of succession, before discussing the key tax and commercial implications arising from an exit transaction, whether this be to associates or non-related parties. Whether we are dealing with multi-generational farming scenarios or other types of trading activities such as retail, manufacturing or property, there are commonalities but also significant differences in some of the challenges faced.
The presenter is well versed in managing the commercial, tax and family dynamics throughout this process having operated in the SME environment for many years, and will share his experiences, good and bad, with attendees.
