This series of webinars provides an opportunity to review professional ethics applicable to accountants. For those who are members of CAANZ, the course will allow you to meet the requirement to undertake four hours of ethics training every five years.
Note: the course incorporates the New Zealand Regulatory Board revisions which come into effect from 15 June 2019 and apply to all CAANZ members in NZ. The revised Codes of Ethics will apply to all CA ANZ members in New Zealand.
Our actions affect not only ourselves, but also those around us. Many of our professional decisions involve ethics. If we tell a lie, we can lose someone’s trust and undermine our own integrity. If we use shoddy materials or workmanship on the job, we can jeopardise the safety of others. Questions of morality and ethics can be found at all levels of society.
Ethical behaviour is equally important in the workplace as it is in our personal lives. Everywhere business is conducted, ethics matters. A successful business depends on the trust of various parties—employees, managers, executives, customers, suppliers, and even competitors. The ability to act, and to be seen acting ethically, are central elements to being a professional accountant.
The course will focus on the ethical standards of CAANZ and will be structured as follows:
Webinar 1 - Overview to Ethics & CAANZ fundamental principles
Webinar 2 - Conceptual Framework & Ethics for employees in a business
Webinar 3 - In Public Practice & Assurance Engagements
Webinar 4 - Resolving Ethical Conflicts
The webinars are available for purchase individually. Just be aware that the fundamental principles in session 1 are key to the other sessions and session 4 is about 50% case study.
Specific ethical requirements will be reviewed in more detail and will cover ethical requirements and issues for:
- Those in practice
- Those in business
- Assurance engagements
Please note this course does not cover ethics in relation to audit and assurance work.
Satisfactory completion of this course will:
- Equip you with the latest information on the CAANZ Code of Ethics
- Fulfill your CPD requirement
- Enable you to make better decisions on ethical issues you may face in the workplace
